HeartSelling shows how trust—or the lack of it—shapes outcomes in high-stakes interactions. Participants experience firsthand which behaviors build strong relationships and which undermine them, gaining powerful insights into communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving.

Participants are divided into four teams. Each team’s goal is to buy, sell, or trade parts and information to assemble a complete shape—while also managing their cash balance.

Teams gather for three trading sessions, negotiating deals and adjusting strategies as new information surfaces. Between sessions, they regroup to plan their next moves, navigating shifting dynamics and emerging challenges.

Throughout the activity, trust becomes a critical factor. How teams communicate, negotiate, and treat each other affects both their trades and their reputations.

After the final session, teams are scored based on the completeness of their shapes and their remaining cash. But in a surprise twist, each team also rates their trading partners on a Trust Scale—evaluating reliability, fairness, and good faith. These trust ratings adjust the final standings, revealing that relationships, not just profits, determine true success.

The true “aha” moment occurs when participants realize the lasting impact of their communication and interpersonal behavior. By tying intangible factors like trustworthiness and mutual respect into the final outcome, HeartSelling brings to life a deeper understanding of what builds—and breaks—strong partnerships.
