HeartSelling demonstrates how trust – or a lack of trust – can emerge during stressful interactions and specifically which behaviors are good and bad for building trusting relationships. Use this eye-opening activity to address relationship management, communication, negotiation, collaborative problem-solving, sales training, and balanced scorecard systems.

This product is in stock and ready to ship.

The group is divided into four teams. The goal is for each team to buy, sell or exchange parts and information through strategic and fair trading, and to create a complete shape from their parts.

The teams come together for three trading sessions to attempt to sell high and buy low. After each session, they meet for team briefings to develop their strategies.

Just like real negotiations, new information comes to light and has the potential to change how the teams interact with each other.

After the final trading session, each team receives points for the completeness of their shapes and their cash balance. In a surprise move, the facilitator also asks teams to evaluate each other and rate their interactions on a ‘Trust Scale’ for reliability and fairness.

This new feedback changes the original team scores and as a result, the team in last place initially could end up in first place, teaching everyone that there is real value to trustworthy communication and good faith negotiation.
