StringBall

Seeing Without Doing, Doing Without Seeing

$216.00

StringBall reveals the hidden challenges of leadership, communication, and trust. As blindfolded participants rely on verbal guidance from a few “sighted” teammates, even small missteps ripple quickly. The exercise highlights how vulnerable teams become when information is scarce—and how empathy and clarity are essential for true collaboration.

In StringBall, most participants are blindfolded and connected by strings to a small metal ring that balances a ball. Their task: move the ball from one pedestal to another—using only the strings.

A few sighted teammates provide verbal instructions, but they cannot touch the strings, the ball, or the blindfolded participants. Communication must be clear, calm, and trusted. If the ball falls, the group must start over—and in harder versions, another sighted player may be blindfolded, raising the stakes even further.

Facilitators can adjust the difficulty by changing the terrain, adding obstacles, or varying heights between pedestals. For a deeper experience, managers and employees can switch roles to build empathy across leadership lines.

StringBall reveals how easily teams lose connection without clear communication—and how trust and perspective-taking can turn confusion into coordinated action.
