This classic activity – like so much of what we do in teams – requires us to work hand in hand. Only when we self-organize, recognize our interdependencies, and coordinate our efforts will we succeed.

This product is in stock and ready to ship.

Participants stand and divide themselves into two rows. Facing each other, they stretch their arms out in front and point their index fingers at the opposite row. The trainer places the FloatingStick on the group's index fingers and explains that their task is to lower the stick to the ground while maintaining contact at all times.

It seems easy, yet as soon as the trainer releases the stick, it mysteriously rises as though it's filled with helium. Because the stick is so lightweight – less than 10 ounces when fully expanded – even the slightest motion will push it up. Once one person pushes up even a bit, everyone else inadvertently lifts the stick too, and the rising begins.

To successfully lower the stick to the floor, the team must devise a plan, coordinate their actions, and communicate clearly.

Our version of this tool is highly adaptable with six different sections that can be screwed together easily to accommodate a variety of group sizes. Approximately two feet long each, the six sections collapse neatly into a travel-friendly carry sack.
