Leonardo’s Bridge challenges teams to build a stable bridge without tools—and without crossing a divide. Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s design for a self-supporting bridge, this hands-on activity reveals the power of collaboration, creativity, and meeting in the middle.

Participants are divided into two teams, each standing on opposite sides of a 6-foot “moat” marked with ropes. Their challenge: work together to build a single 13-foot bridge across the divide, using only 28 sticks—and no tools.

At first, teams brainstorm separately. Some try to design their half of the bridge independently; others recognize the need to collaborate from the start. Eventually, both sides must coordinate and physically meet in the middle to succeed.

Leonardo’s Bridge is more than a construction challenge. It’s a living metaphor for creating stability across differences, building trust without shortcuts, and overcoming fear of failure—all through real teamwork.
