Standing in a circle, each participant receives an illustrated card showing just one part of a larger story—but only from a limited perspective. Without seeing each other’s cards, the team must work together to figure out the correct sequence and uncover the full story.

Typically, participants first form smaller clusters based on similarities they notice. As these subgroups piece together parts of the story, they must then connect their sections into one complete sequence. Success depends on clear, thoughtful communication: participants must describe what they see with enough specificity for others to pick up important details, while keeping their messages concise enough not to overwhelm or confuse the group. Active listening is just as critical—hearing carefully what others describe in order to spot connections and avoid assumptions.

Once the team feels confident, they re-order themselves into what they believe is the correct sequence. Then, all at once, they reveal their cards—and the full story comes to life with a visual “wow” effect.
