CultuRally is a lively, fun-filled activity that reveals how we respond to change—and to each other. As participants encounter new rules and unexpected twists, different behaviors naturally emerge: some people become more inclusive, some adapt with curiosity, and others resist or try to dominate. The “culture shock” people experience becomes a playful—and powerful—metaphor for navigating change and building a healthy team culture.

Small teams sitting at tables each engage in a silent dice game. After several rounds, the player at each table who has earned the most chips moves to a new table, entering a new team—and play continues, still in silence. No one knows it at first, but each table follows slightly different rules, and players react differently to this “culture shock” as newcomers join established teams.

Some newcomers are confused and lose their chips, while others pick up on the new rules by observing and adapting. Teams respond differently too: some continue playing without the newcomer, while others show more inclusive behavior by sharing chips or finding ways to signal the new rules. Some newcomers resist the new norms or try to impose their old ones. Over time, teams that are more inclusive and adaptive are better able to integrate newcomers and succeed together. The experience reveals how team behaviors, norms, and structures shape how effectively we adapt and thrive through change.
